Excellence in Mathematics Teaching Award 2018
Juying Primary is pleased to share that Ms Teo Woon Teng is conferred the Excellence in Mathematics Teaching Award (EMTA) 2018.
This award aims to honour outstanding mathematics teachers who have displayed exemplary efforts in the teaching of Mathematics in Singapore. Ms Teo is one of the two recipients presented the award at the Opening Ceremony of Mathematics Teachers Conference 2018 on 31 May by the Guest-of-Honour, Mr Chua Chor Huat, Director, Curriculum Planning & Development Division, Sciences Branch this year.

Ms Teo Woon Teng is a dedicated teacher who is able to reach out to all her students. She possesses strong content knowledge and a wide repertoire of pedagogies to meet the diverse developmental needs of her students.
Ms Teo is cognizant of the need for her students to develop resilience. She does not allow her students to give up easily. She is skillful in the use of Formative Assessment strategies to identify her students’ learning gaps and plans appropriate intervention strategies to address them.
An excellent Mathematics teacher with 12 years of experience, Ms Teo keeps up with the latest development in Mathematics Education and constantly incorporates them into her daily lessons. She strongly believes that the joy of learning Mathematics can be nurtured through learning experiences that allow the active construction of knowledge and that all students can succeed with engaging pedagogies that foster their desire to learn. Thus, she continuously improves her craft through engaging in reflective practice that deepens her pedagogical knowledge for learners with various learning needs.
As a Senior Teacher, Ms Teo has also played a major role in the Professional Development of her fellow Mathematics teachers. She opens her classrooms to share her expertise with colleagues and to promote the spirit of collaboration among the staff.
